Hmm, I mentioned a while back about either raising the flower borders and/or using hanging baskets, as a way to continue some gardening activities without having to get down at ground level, which I am finding increasingly difficult to do.
I’m not sure we picked the right varieties to go in the baskets. I thought the nasturtiums were a dwarf variety, but apparently not. This may be why they’ve gone ‘nasty’, ie they’re pot bound, however they are also prone to black fly, or some other similar vampire bug. The Pic above shows the result. I think they’ve been sucked dry.
I dont like to use chemicals, but did decide to try spraying them with dilute soapy water. I’m not sure whether this may have been the reason for them drying out. The soil has been kept moist, so its either the Black fly or the soap, I’m not sure which. Anyway I think the best thing is to remove them, they’re prolly too big for the basket.
