It was late the other evening, and whilst having one last browse before bedtime, I found myself on the nod, I heard a voice say, “Look! He’s doing a Spud Murphy!”…. At which point I save my forehead from it’s impending collision with the keyboard.
Who the heck is Spud Murphy, I don’t recall having known a Spud Murphy…
One google search gives a Jazz musician Lyle “Spud” Murphy
Another, a cartoon character…
I suppose lots of Murphys must have been called Spud at sometime or other…
I must look out for some of “Spuds” grooves.
In the local paper today, there is an article about the protein found in fireflies, luciferase, and how this has been used to monitor and study mitochondrial activity in the cells of heart muscle.
I couldn’t find a direct link but here is a link to Bristol University Re:Search site.
, I’ve just found the direct link…
I have not seen that many balloons this year, the balloon fiesta which is an annual event was kept on the ground this year because of high winds. There have been a few balloons wandering across the evening sky over the past few weeks.
Edit: adding Balloon fiesta link

Sure looks like a pizza to me…
I saw Jo’s blog the other day and the William Morris background. Which reminded me of a song about WM by Leon Rosselson “Bringing the News from Nowhere”. I was looking up News from Nowhere and by looking at the Leon Rosselson site found that he will be playing in Bristol for the start of Bristol Radical History Week .
Rosselson will be taking part with another songwriter, Robb Johnson, and presenting a show about “The Liberty Tree – the life, times & writings of Tom Paine”
Afterall that, I’m not sure that I can go … oh well lots more to do and see …
Not as delicate as Grace’s Heavenly blues, but still worth a show methinks.
The strawbs are playing in Bristol tonight, well the ‘acoustic’ Strawbs, which is just a few of them, not a full complement of strawbs
