Here’s the ole man Magpie…. He’s been making such a fuss the last few days. A different call to the usual Cawing sound, and has been displaying for his mate. I don’t think she’s been that interested, giving him the cold shoulder treatment.
The blackbirds have, i think, moved on to another nest, they seem to have several on the go.
We have been digging a pond, or rather Fliss and Chris have been digging a pond, I tried but ended up so breathless I had to stop after a few shovels, now I think I’ve had an elephant sleeping on my neck.. so frustrating, but never mind plenty of other things to do.
Repotted some of the cacti, and divided the calamus (ready for the pond margins), and sown lots of different seed into trays, just hope there are no snap frosts in the next few days/weeks. Could do with a cold frame, or maybe some cloches.
I woke up this morning, put the radio on to catch the last 10 minutes of qualifying for tomorrows race in Malaysia. It’s great to be back in hte racing season.
There must be some race weekends coming up at Castle Combe, I hope we will be able to get to a few, especially with weather like todays.
Another good reason to go to Castle Combe is to further my family history research, quite a few generations of Leonards lived there or in neighbouring villages, so it wouldmake a great weekend away from the city.
