Valve Junior Circuit board and Wiring, with Additions
I’m building up to having another session with the Epi Valve Junior, planning to replace the output transformer, which might not be absolutely necessary, but I fancied a change. Was going to buy a Hammond 125CSE but in the end plumped for a Danbury electronics DB1087 from Ampmaker.com. It is not that much different from the stock transformer (epi v3) a little larger and rated for 5-7 watts. It will leave me with the stock tx spare which I might use in another build or possibly for a tube driven spring reverb for my other amp (VHT special6 Ultra). I haven’t decided yet.
I fumble around on guitar, have been doing so for donkey’s years. Never really had any lessons, could never afford it, so totally self-taught. Nowadays things are different, the internet and multimedia has given the opportunity to listen to guitar lessons (and probably other instruments too) online. And there’s something there for everyone.
One of the guitarists/musicians I watch occsionally is ‘JustNick’. I first started watching his gear reviews on amps, pedals and guitars, then set up a subscription and alert on his youtube channel. Mostly I skip over these things, some reviews are for things that interest me some are not, and the occasional lesson grabs my interest.
But today, something different a breakdown and explanation for one of his own songs. And it really piqued my interest, science, rocketry, politics and the song itself…
I downloaded the free album by Hugh Cornwell “Hoover Dam” some years ago, but didn’t really get to play it much, then I heard a bit of his ‘Totem and Taboo’ album, and thought that I must give Hoover Dam a good listen. I’m so glad I did, some infectious tunes by a master tunesmith.
Here’s one of my favourites,
More dominance from the Sebastien gang. Ogier looks unbeatable this year, and he walked away with the championship last year. There were some signs that Mikko Hirvonen might have regained his mojo, and for a brief period he led the rally, but Ogier took it back by yesterday evening with an incredible drive through the longest stage of the rally. After that, no one could keep up with him.
There are signs that the Hyundai team are making progress, with Thierry Neuville making some progress up the rankings, but his teammates seemed to fall by the wayside. Though I’m not sure what happened to Dani Sordo, he was going so well yesterday, and there didn’t seem to be any drop off in pace from him, so I’m assuming there were some mechanical issues that dropped him out of the rally.
I’ve moved home. After 53 years or so in and around the Bristol Area, I’ve finally escaped and now live very close to the most splendiferous coast of the Gower Peninsula.
Wormhead From Llangennith on a very windy day
We used to spend some of our summer holidays around here, down near Oxwich bay, but also just across the Loughor Estuary in Camarthenshire or pembrokeshire. Lots of really good memories, so it’s amazing that i now live here.
Magnatone stereo twilighter…. mmmm… feel the vibe. I’ve been interested in Magnatones for a while, interesting circuits, one which has a different take on the tweed style tone control which I’m going to have to try out sometime. But these twilghters sound absolutely stunning.
Lance Keltner does a little ‘jammy’ (or did he say ‘jimmy’) thing at around 3.20 … that vibe is really lush.
Just what is it about boxes that cats love so much, even if it is so small they can only just get in it! She tried so hard to curl up but gave up and decided on the nonchalant look.
